What we do for YOU
First, we ask a few questions to help us find out what YOUR PARTICULAR circumstances are. Remember, this trip is just for you!
The first question is always the most difficult. We ask “What is your budget?” and you respond “HOW MUCH are your trips?” So we have put together ESTIMATED budgets for either 9 days or 16 days ALL-INCLUSIVE from Detroit. These estimates are used ONLY to help YOU decide on the scope of your trip. They cover everything (yes, “batteries ARE included”) you will have to spend including meals that are not included with the rooms, taxes, tips, tours, taxis, tickets, transfers, and even airport parking! But you are not limited to either 9 or 16 days, you can do any number.
We then ask WHEN you want to go? We will help you with that answer, too. Ecuador’s temperature is the same all year, but it may be rainy in one area and dry in another. Another factor is that the airfare can be much higher during Holidays. What days of the week suit your vacation time best? And what is your departure city? These answers all affect the biggest item in the budget, the airfare. We also check to be sure that your passport’s expiration date will not be a problem.
We ask your age. We will help determine your adventure/comfort quotient for THIS trip. If this is for your honeymoon we like to say “Romantic and Relaxing for her or Amorous and Adventurous for him. Or as much of each as you BOTH shall want.” We are so flexible that you don’t even have to go to the Amazon basin to take advantage of our “Andes to Amazon” trip. We have an alternate rain-forest experience for those who wish a less taxing and more comfortable trip. We also cater to the more sophisticated traveler and any special interests you may have.
Finally we get to the important stuff. We have well over a dozen highly recommended excursions in our repertoire, some unique to our Agency. These vary from ½ day to 4 days. There are also major add-ons available such as whale watching or the Galapagos Islands. We will discuss these extensively in order to help you choose the best excursions for YOU and will coordinate them so that you go to the right place on the right day of the week and make the most of your time, but at YOUR pace.
We will then be able to quote firm prices for YOUR exact trip. These prices will be less than comparable “Group” tours even though you will often have your own personal guide/driver/interpreter. One reason is that your trip researcher and coordinator is retired and works for free. (Really!) Another reason is our unique pricing and fee structure. We have persuaded all the properties to give us a discount that we pass on to you so you pay tax and service fees (which are significant in Ecuador) only on the discounted rates. Then, instead of a commission, we charge you a FIXED fee that is based on the amount of work we have to do for your trip. So, if you choose to up-grade or spend more on something, it will not impact on the fee. This also assures you that we are not motivated to sell something higher priced just to increase our commission. And if there are more of you traveling together, we will be able to lower the fee per person.
After the bookings are made, we will answer any questions you have and supply you with all the advice that we think is appropriate. Such things as which excursions are likely to make you car-sick; what to take and wear when you go to the jungle; the importance of re-confirming your flights; who to contact while you are there; where to watch out for pick-pockets; which credit cards to take; even tips on packing.
All in all, you are going to find that “What We Do For You” is far MORE FOR far LESS than any travel agent/consultant has ever done before!
